On Wednesday, Mei 8, 2024 at 13.00-14.30 WIB, Gentalk 3 was held. The event was held at the Genetics and Breeding Laboratory, Faculty of Biology UGM. The activity targeted towards Formasigen students and public. Gentalk activities are a forum for active discussion and sharing between alumni or seniors related to the topic of the undergraduate thesis being worked on with Formasigen students and the public. The speakers in Gentalks 3 are Lucia Arum Sekar Meysari and Azizah Tyas Nugrahantyi, students of the Faculty of Biology UGM class of 2020 and under the guidance of Mrs. Ganies Riza Aristya, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D. as their undergraduate thesis supervisor.
In this Gentalk 3, the participants who attended had very high enthusiasm. The event commenced with an introduction by the MC, Thoriq Abdul Halim, who serves as the Head of the Scientific Division of the GenomCity 2024 Cabinet. The activity continued with a presentation on Primary Design by the speakers. In Gentalk 3, the participants were invited to collaborate in designing primers. The discussion went smoothly with various explanations from the speakers and questions from the participants. Some of the topics discussed included primer target selection, PCR condition optimization, and the use of bioinformatics software for data analysis such as Bencling and IDT. Participants and speakers interacted actively with each other, creating a productive atmosphere. This discussion was very helpful in deepening the understanding of bioinformatics. Gentalk 3 participants felt that they received significant benefits, especially in making primers, which was the topic of the discussion at this event.
